Guys, I have a 180 tank made by All-Glass Aquariums. It has an overflow box at one end of the tank. I want to up grade my return pump, but I was told that I need to know to overflow rate into the sump before I decide on which pump is compatable with my setup. How do I do this, or is it neccesary at all. Thanks Tom

It is a 180 w/ a single overflow? Mine has dual corner overflows. Is it curved, or a box design? How big is the bulkhead? Do you run the durso or stockman variant of the durso mod?

It is a single, box design with a durso standpipe. The bulkhead is 1 1/2 inches to the sump and 3/4 inch return from the pump. I really appreciate any help.

Put a ball valve on your return so that you can easily cut back your return rate if it overtakes the overflow.

I have a 180G w/ 2 corner overflows. They are the rounded ones with small intakes at the top and at the bottom. I have stockman type standpipes (modification on the durso design to be more compact.) I am pushing just over 900 gph through the overflows.

Yuor overflow should handle at least 400 gph, in my opinion.
