I'm pretty thrilled with this light, i got the 96w retro a week ago. It comes with a smart lamp (staggered blue and white tubes) and the usual retrofit stuff. I've yet to hang it up but man is it bright! Essentially it's a 96w pc lamp that they cut in half and stuck side by side in the same socket. It runs off a normal 96w pc ballast but i think right now it only comes in a retro. I'm using it to light my CPR refugium w/ mangroves. I'll post a picture if my refugium EVER gets here from Champion.

I'm very impressed with it and it would be great for a 10 gallon reef (18" long). I'm pretty thrilled with it so i figured i'd let everybody know!

I'd drop a link but they don't have it on their site yet.

I bought this lamp for $115.00 at the LFS I built a box for it and put it on my 37gl for bit more light for my condylactis anemones it seems to be working very well. I was also wondering if there are any types of soft coral that can be kept under this lamp?

The smartlamps have been around for a while. I haven't used them yet, but may switch to them down the line when it comes time to replace my lamps. One thing that I have been told, though is that you should have more actinic than daylight with your PCs because they can burn corals. This came from a LFS owner that had great corals, and ran both MH and PC lighting depending on the tank. As far as putting soft corals under them, no problem. See this thread for my list of corals, soft and stony, under pc lighting: PowerCompact vs NO

it was a toss up for me either the 2X96watt smartlite or a 175 M.H., i chose the halide it was cheaper and um.. well its halide. event though the 2x96 watts is more light, I have been wanted halide lighting for about a year now.
