40 pounds for a DSB, with the sand sizer ranginf from .5mm to 1.0 mm . That's what I switched to and it is great.

How much sand substrate would you recommand for a 29 gal tank? And does 1.5 lbs. of live rock / gallon sounds correct?

most people here would say 3-4 inches for denitrification purposes and 2 lbs per gallon of rock.

Im running 1.5 inches and 1 lb per gallon in my 37 but it has a low bioload and I tend to be a minimalist.

but you sound about right in your estimates.
