Don't know anything about Gemini's, just want to make sure you realize that a wavemaker basically turns pumps on and off every minute or so - any claims about a "soft start" are BS. When I got one, I had to get all new pumps, Maxi's, which wouldn't make a racket on starting up. You might want to see how much noise your pumps make when starting.
The Gemini's will be fine and are extremely quiet starting up and running on my Tsunami Wavemaker. Had them running for about 3 months. You can barely tell when they are on or off except for the additional noise the water makes as it powers across the tank. Don't know anything about the Pro version but the Tsunami definitely has a "soft" start capability. I personally reverse engineered the circuit and with the use of triacs and current limiting circuitry they do prevent large inrush current spikes. I previously ran the Geminis using X-10 appliance modules and the difference in start up is very noticable, even ignoring the relay smack of the X-10s. JMO of course. HTH.
I have ordered a few more genini and was wondering if anyone can tell me about the wavemaker? I will have 3 to 4 pumps on it. Are the manufacture setting ok and can I change the setting.
Was thinking about seaswirls but have heard that after a year or 2 they stop working well. And to get the water movement that I want I would have to buy 3 seaswirls and do some montification on my tank. The 3 gemini and wavemaker will cost me 353.00 and I will have 2880gph. No moving parts to break .
I was referring to rotating heads on the seaswirl. Yes all pumps do break at some point but it is cheaper to replace a Gemini for 78.00 opposed to 1 seaswirl for 159.00 for a 3/4 " that put out a max. of 850gph. I have some friends that have had gemini for 3 years with no porblems.
My question was about the wavemaker...

I think that I am going to order the wavemaker today. I have had 2 Gemini for awhile and have had no problems with them at all.I like the 960gph they put out. I know of some people that just have them on timers but no wavemakers and they have had no problem with pumps.
The only place that I have seen them is at www.thatpetplace.com but they are always out and mine have neem on back order for 3 weeks but was shipped this past friday.
I have a Wavemaker set up running 4 Maxi-Jet powerheads... 2 900's and 2 1200's in a 75G. The Maxi's have been great for me... they have the "quiet start" feature and cant really hear them go on and off.
I'm using the manufacturer's "light" setting and it seems fine. To be honest though, i dont know if I would be able to tell if it wasnt...
Will I received the Wavemaker Pro today and I am impressed. I like the night program, 8 hrs of calmer water and the other features such as gentle, rolling, turbulent and alternating.
You should be able to hook up your wifes blender to that thing. Try turbulant when making the fish food in the crystal. I think she will like the noise...
