Hello,

I made some purchases for my reef tank off of the web. I ordered two leathers (Toadstool Yellow & Finger Leather), some Zoanthid gold button polyps, a cleaner shrimp, and a Blue Linckia Starfish. I know that I have to acclamate the linckia slowly and over a long period of time. Exactly how long would you do it? Also, being new to corals i'd like some advice on acclamating the other things I mentioned.

Thanks,
Michelle

Others may disagree but to me 6 hour or so is plenty. If you have a refractometer, I would check the salinity of the water it came in and your tank water as well. I would allow 2 hours for each 0.0010 difference. A steady drip is best.

As for the other items, I would say 90 minutes should be enough.

I acclimated my blue linckia about 6 hours. I floated it in the tank and added a little water every 20 min or so. Happy to say it has been doing good.

drip water slowly into the linkias container until it is full dump out half and repaet until the salinities are identical. Drip slowly and he'll be fine
