I just bought a sailfin tang (zebrasoma veliferum) from a LFS and put him in my quarantine tank, but he seems a little stressed. How long should he be in the Q tank? He looks fat and healthy and he eats nori and spirulina already, so I think he would be much more happy in main tank(1,5 month with only one banggay cardinal fish and a few mushrooms). What should I do?
Thanks in advance

With your very light stock in the main tank, go ahead and transfer him over whenever you'd like. Be sure to acclimate him to the new tank's water, and not just net him out and throw him in.

Yes - go ahead and transfer the tang over, but be careful. Keep a very close eye on him for that tang's tend to carry ich and isn't really noticed 1-2 weeks after you have it in your tank. That's how I almost lost mine.
Good Luck,
Brad

If you're quarantining him, then go the distance, or don't even bother quarantining. The point of a quarantine tank is to observe the fish for the amount of time that it takes to determine if it has any illnesses or parasites and treat it so you don't introduce it into your main tank. It doesn't matter what you have in your main tank, you might not have anything at all, but once you introduce something, chances are, it will stay there, especially if you have a reef. My understanding about quarantine tanks is that you should keep your fish in there for 4-5 weeks. I don't use them, but I also have some diseases in my tank that periodically appear for a couple of days on this fish or that. If you are going to skip the quarantine, then just convert your quarantine tank to something that you will use, or break it down. Don't mean to sound rude by being blunt, but what's the use of a quarantine tank if you're not going to quarantine?
