Hi all,
I just went home on my lunch hour to drop off my new CO2 tank (getting ready to hook up the new calcium reactor) and I saw my colt coral totally melted down. I only had time to throw some carbon in the sump because I had to get back to work. I did not have time to do any chem tests, but I wonder if an Alk drop would have caused this? Any ideas?
I have never had this happen to colt before, but HAVE had it happen to xenia.
What a mess.

Once you got the chance to take care of your tank, get a hose and suck it all out of your tank!

Yes, a sudden and big enough alk drop will do it for the colt, or any softies for that matter. The same goes for temp and PH.

As soon as I get home (in a few hours) I'll get the old syphon hose out. . . This is precisely why I am setting up the calcium reactor. . . I hate these sudden, inexpicable drops in Alk. I like things smooth and steady.
