20 gal tank with 25lbs LR, no sand, CPR BAKPAK skimmer, up for two months, finished cycle in about 30 days water test out fine. Two weeks after cycle tank has a large bloom of the little white pods along with cloudy water nothing new was added or done. Problem continues for 2 weeks, I ran a diatom filter, carbon, water change, and no effect. So three days ago I lowered temp from 79.5 to 76 overnight water is clear, problem solved right? NO, water is Cloudy again this morning. Can anyone give me a clue as to what's going on?

Try getting up a few hours after the reef lights are out and search for the source. It could be that some creature going through its breeding cycle, spewing eggs and sperm . Its not likely that something died if the water perameters are good; and it cleared up for a day. Just a guess!!

The temp is now low IMHO. 79-82 is best IMO. But to reply about the cloudy water,I think that either your PH is fluctuating or you are having a bacteria bloom in the tank. I would think it is a combination of both. The cycling of the tank will deplete your PH and alk for a period of time. So you may have to raise your PH with either Kalk additions or baking soda. I also think that due to your cycle, the bacteria is now free floating through your tank. With stable parameters(and changing your temp may have impeded stability)your tank should clear up soon. Try not to fiddle with things in the beginning.
