to me, they are both easy to keep. i have had them when i start reef. so far i had some of them under NO light (120w for 58g) for over a year. and they grow and are very healthy. just one brown torch have currently some white stuff around the branches and it is not open fully.i do not know what it is.
Cclown, Torch,Hammer and Frogspawn are all corals from the same family Euphyilla. I find them to be very hardy hard corals and good indicators of water quality. They come in single head and branching head forms and come in different colors. They are very forgiven when it comes to light and water current, but all of mine seem to prefer medium light and current. They also like alittle feedings of meaty food once in awhile.
thinhvu, sounds like your brown Torch may have developed an infection. Maybe from being moved, trauma or possibly from water quality or high temperature. Try gently siphoning or brushing away the stuff and make sure that area is getting good current. I lose a branch or two for no apparent reason too, but luckly it doesn't effect the entire colony.
Did it have this white stuff before or after you moved it? If after then maybe it got damaged during the move. I always fan the coral and allow it to deflate before I move it. Check your water, temp etc.. make sure it's getting current to the area effected. I wouldn't move it again untill it improves as long as it getting light and current.
