I have a bit of a hair algae problem. I've been avoiding stocking my tank (I have a half dozen corals) until I get it more under control. Would the addition of coral help outcompete the aglae?

This particular type of Hair algae is feathery with long runners that have anchors along their length. My lawn mower blenny doesn't seem to like it much.

On a side note, I started using a two part calcium suppliment and my substrate has turned pink! Coraline Algae is really starting to take off.

Corals do consume some of the same nutrients that algae do.

OTOH, whether you can win the game by adding corals will depend upon what exactly the problem is, what corals you add, and how many you add.
