Well, in July I had some horrible luck with keeping fish alive. I made a desperate post for help with all tank parameters, and everything I ever tried to keep that died. Rather than help, it turned into a very ugly post, at first people flamed, and then simply made fun of me.

Even with all those fish dead, and the 'wonderful' reaction from people on these boards, I didn't consider giving up the hobby, however I did give up posting here completely.

Anyhow, I haven't posted here since, and cooincidentally I haven't lost a fish since (I didn't really change anything - I guess some of it is luck, some of it is just the tank maturing). I am moving to Cleveland, and will miss my LFS greatly, and probably rely on the internet a whole lot more now (I doubt the only LFS I found so far with corals has anyone old enough to have a high school degree) - so I figured I try posting here again.

I hope no one gets too discouraged if they get flamed here, especially if they are already discouraged about the loss of animals they were really attached to. Also, I hope people keep this in mind before flaming anyone.

Well Brad keep the faith there are still a bunch of good people out there to help. I too get annoyed sometimes when we are so consumed at bickering between oursleves that it clouds things for the very people we are trying to help!!!!! You and every other hobbyist is just as important to this board as the very people who run it. Do not give up just believe less of what you hear and more of what you see!(in your tank that is)

BradB,

Glad to hear that your pride didn't get the better of you. I hope you stay and contribute to the board, as I have gotten much out of this board, and feel that one thing that makes it so helpful is the wide diversity of people, tanks and approaches to reefkeeping. As for people flaming you, that does happen. Some of it may have been take as a flame when none was intended. Some of it was intended, and was probably deserved.

Help! Why can't I keep fish alive???

In any case, I am glad that you have decided to be a part of this forum. I look forward to future posts.

I did worse than you:I started my s/w tank in a rush and got a lot of "#@*&!+" as answeres to the posted questions.I even changed the posting name for this reason. This site is like living in a big city: a really big diversity of people with different views.

Today ,(10 mths later after starting) I have a very nice reef tank that people who are in s/w for many years are admireing and come to ask me, "how did you do this and that? ".

Since you'll move, I would be more concerned of your new tank (about the stuff you will move,if any).I've heard of people who moved just blocks and started new (bigger) tanks, they crashed.

Another thing, for sure (take it like that) your new lfs will not be so reliable as the old one.
Consequence, ask here your questions (and take a bit more easily the "bashing" of answers.

Good luck!
FM
