nah, I'm 100% sure I don't want mh this time. I've been a serious reefer for 3 years, and I'm still into LPS!
pretty rare huh!?

Nah. I have really taken to LPS too. My last 2 of my last 3 livestock purchases were LPS. I love to feed them and watch them slowly devore fish and shrimp chunks.

Do a quick calculation. Measure the bulbs diameter, I believe VHO are roughly 2". Then spacing, I usually space about 1/2". Then take the total space use of a bulb and devide your width by that number.

I would say 6-8 depending on the space under your hood and how tight you can squeeze them together. I used to have 4 over an 18" wide tank.

But instead of spending all that dough on VHO why don't you just go Metal Halide? If you shop around your going to find it is going to be about the same $$$. Especially when it comes to bulb replacement every 6 months on VHO compared to annually for MH. Of course your electric cost are going to be higher, but so is your corals growth rates!!!

maybe 2x250mh 10000k and 4x4'vho actinic?
I wish that pfo parallel reflector could hold 4 VHO's!
