Hello All,
Over the past 2 days, I've noticed that all my Red Sea Xenia, and Anthelia corals have started to turn white. It is like they are bleaching out for no apparent reason. They both SEEM to be fine, Anthelia is fully extended and open, and the Xenia are pumping away just like always, but they have lost all their color. Now today, my Colt coral hasn't opened AT ALL . All water tests are great. Anyone got any ideas??? I'm really lost on this one.
Tank info:
180g rr tank with 3 250w 65k Iwasaki's and 2 72" actinics. 170lbs of fiji LR, 4" deep sand bed, Refugium with live sand, LR, and calurpa. Everything has been doing great until yesterday. Thanks for any help you can give.

if everything else seems fine, test for stray current.
sometimes a power head or pump goes bad, leaks electricity to the water and critters just act weird when they are constantly being shocked.

How long have you had the xenia and anthelia? Some corals do change colors when subjected to different lighting (i.e. more intense, different spectrum) than what they were used to.

I wasn't going to say anything but,

IMO, I would change a bunch of water. If everything is testing fine then it might be something in the water you can't or don't test for. You may have gotten something in there that is affecting those animals. I had a Xenia colony that was doing excellent then all of the sudden one day it started to turn pale and the new spreading shoots crumbled into nothing. I also lost a bug furry mushroom. Well the shrooms don't just die off, right? So I tested a bunch of stuff and everything looked fine...None of the other corals or shrroms on the tank were bothered. So I changed out about 50 percent of the water and in two days another 20 percent and in two days another 20 percent. The end result was that nothing else died. The Xenia recoved and I still have it. The shroom evaporated to nothing. Can't explain what the cause was, but I know the cure.

Good luck.
