How long does it take for PVC cement to cure and to be safe to be used in the tank. I just finished some plumbing and wanted to know when it was safe to start my aquarium water thru it??

mrrrkva - I think you should be good to go in about an hour. I've run PVC plumbing for yard sprinkler systems in about that time without any problem leaking. It takes about 24 hours to totally cure though.

I've had water in pipes in less than 10 minutes after cementing. It's pretty much ready to go immediately. The longer you wait on anything aquarium related the better however.

I usually cement, wait about 10 minutes, blow through the tube for a bit, and then run tap water through it. That'll make sure that the cement on the inside of the pipes is cured on the surface, although the rest of it might take a bit longer since it is sealed off from the air. A good way to figure it out is to touch the ring excess cement will form on the outside of the pipe where you push the pieces together. Once it stops imprinting your finger print, it's good to go. However, if you can wait for 24 hours, wait.
