They like to bury their foot and attatch to something under the substrate. How do they get the foot buried? Do I need to plant him? Right now he is hanging out inside a piece of PVC like a flower pot.

My LTA stays on the sand near the rock and has been in its current location for a month. Let it go where ever it wants. The nice thing about LTA's as long as your corals are not down low, no worries.

I let the bottom of the tank be its playground.

The anemone will bury its foot by itself, usually at the base of a rock. Let it find a place on its own. The PVC is helpful, but if it's in a place where it doesn't like the water flow it won't ever be "happy" and may die. They prefer fine sand as a substrate too. Let it wander. It may take awhile but it'll find a place. Mine took 20 days.
