different type kalkwasser reactor question

i have built a 5ft 4'diasmeter closed tubing filled with 10lb of kalkwasser.
the fresh water enters from the bottom of the reactor and released by a valve from the top into the reek.the cerculation is so minimal that the return water is clear white.
my question is.is it possible to have the tank water circulate in the reactor or not(instead of the top of fresh water?)

would i need to add any additives to boost the calcium or alkalinity while running the kalk. reactor?in the long run that is

CO2 from your tank water will turn your kalk into carbonate, making it not useful.
