Trying to start a Refugium for 60 gallon reef

Im trying to find some good info on seting up a refugium. I hear that Dr. Ron has some good articles. Im thinking about a 40g. deep sand, live rock and calerpa. my question is how do you go about taking the water from the main system into the refugium with out it overflowing when the power goes out.

Mine do not comes from main tank directly, instead, I have a small pump to draw water from the sump to the refugium.

If your refugium has a drain on the side at least 1" below the rim, you shouldn't have to worry about overflowing.

May I sugest an Ecosystems sump/filter. They're nearly fool-proof, and they provide excellent results.
