Hi, Planning of placing live abalones in my sump to help filter reef tank water. Logic: I see these guys attached to breakwater rocks in not so clean & warm water. They seem hardy. Anyway, if they die in a day or two in the sump,my fish would love to eat them. Anybody with exp with these guys? Do they need lights?

abalones would probably be more help in your display tank as they clean the glass really well. they dont like bright light either, youll probably not see them in the day

Execuse moi, I thought abalone are algae eaters. I have never witness mine filter anything, they don't even have filter tentacles. Are we talking about different species of abalone? By the way, I do see mine during the day time.
