I have a 90 gallon established reef tank. It has a berlin classic skimmer with a rio 2500 pump. It never seems to work well. With a previous Rio 2100 it did not pump enough, with a 2500 sometimes overflows, but rarely skims well. Time to dump it.

What would you recommend as the best skimmer for my tank. I have a medium bioload with corals and fish. Currently no problems with water paramaters at all. . . .Jim

i am a firm believer in the train of thought of "If it ain't broke, then don;t fix it".

If you really do want to upgrade, i would go with an aquac, euroreef or ets skimmer.

I am a true belever in needle wheel skimmers. HSA's allthough they are good they are still venturi's, and you could never get a needle wheel on one of those. Aquamedic or Deltec are the only two i would consider. Either that or get the turbo upgrade for yours. It includes a pump and a needle wheel upgrade. You can then get rid of the Rio too.
