I recently started using 10mL vinegar per L of top up water with Kalk (2 tsp/gal) and Iodide. My pH dropped from 8.2 to 8.1- in 4 days (Sailifert kit). I used SeaChem 8.3 pH buffer (Na2CO3 mostly) for 4 days per bottle recommendations and pH came up to 8.1+. My Alk was running 8 dKH, now it is 11.5 dKH. Ca was 360ppm (can not keep any higher) and is now 345. Is the cloudiness CaCO3 precipitate? Or maybe a bacterial bloom or something? Parameters: 2 months post cycle; 250g 2'X7'X30"tank; 300lb rock; 2" substrate; belin sump; 12 turnover/hour; 6X6' VHO; 74 - 75.5 F; NH3, NO2-, and NO3 = 0; pH 8.1-8.2; PO4<0.05ppm; I-=0.05ppm; 1.024 SG; Disolv O2 = 5 ppm (salifert, elevation = 5000'); Coraline algae spreading; macroalgae growing; 2 ocillaris and 6 line doing fine; 100 snails and 45 scarlet hermits have had hair algae under control for over a month; Corallimorphs, star and button polyps open and doing fine; pods and mysid shrimp, some worms in bed recently.
