I ran into a guy the other day who has been keeping reef systems forever, he even had his own shop at one time. Anyway we were talking about leathers and mushrooms and he said that you can take mushrooms and some leathers, put them in a food proccessor, grind them up and then spread them in your tank and they will grow all over the place. Has anyone tried this or is this guy full of it.

I've butchered some purple mushrooms with a razorblade and each piece grew into a separate animal. A food processor seems a bit extreme though.

You know i bet this old guys probably right. I mean does anyone know how small a frag has to be for either of these corals not to grow. He may have seen one of his shrooms get sucked into a Power Head once, you never know.

I puree mine in a blender with ice cream and milk, and drink it with a straw mmmmm

I believe you need to have part of the orifice in tact for a new shroom to grow.

I've scraped the entire mushroom off the rock in order to start them growing in other areas of the tank. The tiny little bits that are left on the rock grow into new ones.
