Halide problem

I have a relatively new halide bulb (2 months old Iwasaki 65k 400 watt) on a 2 year old ballast (hydrofarm). Recently the bulb has "died out" and the ballast starts to hum. It is almost like there is a power drain. It proceeds to fire and regularly "dies" most of the day.

Does this sound like the ballast or the bulb?

Sounds like you have a power issue to the ballast.
Of course this can still be issues with ballast and or bulb.
