Skimmer question- Aqua c-EV90

i just bought an aqua c ev 90 w/ rio 1700 (used but seems to be in great shape) pump for my 75 gallon
lots of rock, corals, inverts and 5 fish
-skimmer has been running for 1 week


not getting lots of foam, is this normal?
last night, i think i finally got the correct water level and this morning i had some foam,
came home from work, no foam
all last week, no foam, tonight, no foam

should the skimmer always be foaming, how much is normal, how would i know, how do i know my bio load,
appreciate responses?

I have this skimmer also although I use a Mag 5 on it which I believe has less output in gph than the rio 1700. I can't remember. I noticed that I got a little better performance when I raised the outlet above the water line in my sump. But I always got pretty good skimming even submerged. Like all skimmers I've used it took a couple of days to break in. And water adjustment using the gate valve took me a little while to learn to set properly. But after some initial tweaking it runs very well. I am happy with the unit. Of course it can't skim much out if there isn't much doc in the water so what are you stocked with and how much do you feed? And where exactly do you have the water level set within the body of the skimmer?
