Algae (LIGHTS) Need some advice

I am not sure if I should turn the lights back on for 6 hours a day now or if I should start out small time increments and up the time every week. The lights are two 250 watt MH and two actinic PC's.
Any one ever do this to cure the algae thing and how did you start the lighting cycle back up?
