Help, my new Perc, who was checking out my bubble anemone last night, is gasping bad today. All other fish are fine, except for other perc who is kind of swimming around with its mouth open.

Anyone know what is going on?

It could be the begining of ich or oodinum, but more likely oodinum. I think a fresh water dip would be the first order of business to give them some relief.

If it is a new fish it is probably stressed out big time already. I am not sure removal and dipping will help. Could just freak the little guy out more. It is a bad sign to see labored breathing in a new fish after the first day. Does not sound good :-(

No real answer to your problem. Just make sure stressors are not present and good luck.

Now I'm really confused. The lights go out, and both percs are fine. What gives? Who knows, I just hope that they are allright.

My false percs have their mouths open a lot of the time and especially after feeding make some really alarming movements. The larger of the two sometimes looks like it is violently gagging. In other occasions, the large one sort of rams into the small one and the small one has what looks like a spastic attack shaking quite hard. At first I thought they were going to die, however, I've had them for 5 months, they've grown quite a bit and seem happy. I think this is possibly normal behavior for clowns. They don't call them clown's for nothing
