I just grabbed ahold of it by the foot and gently pealed it off the rock. I then elastisized the pieces to small rocks.
Been 1 day and they have allready taken hold.

Hands stink afterwards though.

any toxins that would be released?

No toxins.

I use small, sharp, stainless steel scissors to cut off a head off a mother colony. I cut it close to the base and than I use a rubber-band to lightly attach it to a rock. It attaches in a matter of days and then I remove the rubber band.

I have the stuff everywhere.

I've done a search and can't seem to find this. I have it growing like weed and would like to know techniques of. Besides placing a small rock next to, how about if it is on a large rock is their any danger of just cutting with a one sided blade...any toxins that would be released?

It isn't fun to wade through the muck there but garfs.org has the details on several methods to do it. You might want to wear shades while surfing there though.

This is my method for propagating xenia. Snip a double stalked piece near the base. Lay the double stalks on a rock and rubberband between the stalks. The two stalks will attach in a few days to a week and will split making two colonies. Lightly rubberbanding single stalks works as well too.
