I will be moving my 75 in the next few months and would like to update my current set-up while it is drained for the move. I am 99% sure that I will be drilling the tank in order to do away with the overflow box and would like some suggestions on what I should do.
Right now I am thinking of custom building a sump which will house most of my existing DSB (trying to remove all that sand from the tank) or ecosystem type set-up. I am most likely going to use a mag 18 with 2 x 3/4" sea swirls for the return. In order to accommodate this how big of an overflow should I have drilled into the tank and where?
Next, I am beginning to consider a closed loop system as well, because this will be predominately a SPS system. (except for the LPS and clams I already have) In order to accommodate this how many more holes should be drilled in the tank and where? Also, what pump would you recommend for this size tank with the two SS already there. I will also have the clams placed on the sand bed if this makes a difference in location of returns. Any thoughts??
I wish I could get a larger tank and start from scratch, but that is not an option at this time. TIA
