C'mon now, you're going to scare Kirtis off and then where will our fun be? Kirtis, you might want to try one of those metal bins that they sell as water troughs for horses at a tack store or agricultural supply store. I PROMISE, CROSS MY HEART, it won't rust! They're cheap, and you'll be able to buy more stuff to kill in it, I mean put in it.

By the way, the people at RC and here are pretty much the same group. Look for common names and common themes. The moderators are probably just removing/editing more posts over there than they do here.

You know folks..... kirtis may not have followed helpful, quality advice. He may have called you names, and you returned in kind. Fine. That's over and done with.

What I don't appreciate is the bad name this board gets when people surf by and see flames left and right. I've busted my butt quite a bit over the last few years to try and make this board a friendly, informative place to visit, and take personal offense to having that hard work undone. Simply state that you have given him all the help you can, and move on. If you want to flame the guy, fine. Just don't do it on my time.

Chucker you are right, I apologize to both you and kirtis, along with anyone who might have been offended by my post. I humbly retreat with my tail between my legs.

kirtis, do yourself and the fishies a favor, read a book. This is not meant to be antagonistic; every successful aquarist learns it is important to read many books before jumping into anything. For now, realize that the health of your animals is what we are all concerned about. Try to filter through the nasty comments and listen to someone on one of these boards.

Cheers

Kirtis, if my math is correct, you can set up a 210 gal. tank (if you want to call it that) for about $80. Of course you may need more lighting than your basement light provides, but here's a cheap idea for you.
1. Go to Walmart and pick up a kiddie wading pool, you know the kind that are about 6' diameter and about 1' deep. I think they run about $10
2. Purchase enough salt for 200 gal. (about $70)
3. Fill the pool, uh, I mean your 210 now , yeah tank with clean water and test it for all the bad stuff (I assume you already have these test kits, so you shgouldn't have to buy these).
4. Raise your house thermostat to 80º or so. (You might want to check with your folks first since this may be long term.)
5. Transfer over your live sand and rock and equipment from your 55 , yeah. If you think you need more, just add some of the sand and rock from the river nearby. (Make sure you clean it well first!!! (IMPORTANT!!! do not use soaps nor typical cleaning solvents, they could send your phosphates through the roof)
6. Add your fish. (I'd recommend you start slowly. Too many fish and your tank could become infested with parasites like Ich.)
7. KEEP US POSTED!!! We enjoy hearing about your progress! Send us pictures also.
Good luck.

Kirtis - I have a free to a good/any home 200gal tank.

It's only free if I don't have to help move it.

Oh - I live in New Zealand - is the convenient for you?
