Are there places that will take a glass aquarium apart and completely reseal it? I recently acquired a tank that's been sitting in a garage in Las Vegas (hot and dry) for who knows how many years. I filled it with water and so far it hasn't leaked but I'd like to be on the safe side just in case.

What size tank is it? If it is under 100g, then I suggest save yourself the time and expend a lil more money and purchase a new tank. Not only will you have a warranty, plus you will know exactly how old it is.

Try calling around to your local glass places and talk to them. They may be able to do it or at least know someone that will.

The problem is the difficulty in taking the tank apart.

It's very time consuming indeed to take a tank apart. The cost of paying someone to do this will definetly exceed the cost of buying a new tank.

I've twice removed single panes from tanks - neither experience left me with a feeling I would want to do that again.

If you were to try yourself then try to tear through the glue with something like nylon fishing line rather than trying to cut with a razor blade. If there is not an adequate gap between the glass panes then you're going to have a lot of trouble.

I just sold a 125 gal tank that I had for 27 years. About once every 10 years I just trimmed out the glue in the corners and resealed it with new. Never took it apart. It moved across country and then across town recently and still does not leak. You don't have to take them apart.
