I was at the LFS today and talked with the owner.
He is very concerned about getting fish and Corals
He thinks it might be a few months before shipment start to come in.
I would guess that most of his revenue is from live stock not dry goods.
What are ever ones thoughts on this?

I know this is trivial compared to what is happening but?..

It's not trivial if you own a fish store.

I can't see it being months.. there is too much need for air freight in many industries, the economic impact of cargo embargo would be immense.. I can't see them keeping it blocked for months.

Guess we'll find out.

I agree with Jeremy. Every retailer depends on cargo somehow. Fedex/Airborne/UPS will be fully operating by Monday. You might see an increase in prices due to delays and loss in the next 2-3 week.

Jeremy didn't mean to it too sound like that
I know you guys have to live too.

My question is even if they do start shipping will they hold up the packages to long for inspection for the livestock?

Hopefully most of the air traffic will be restored shortly so that all business who depend on it can do what it is they do. Im sure it is safe to say that in the near future, the cost of new security measures at airports will be felt in the cost of airfreight which will affect etailers and retailers alike. Depending on the infrastructure upon which the lfs functions, the lfs should have some room to absorb an increase in the cost of livestock whereas the typical etailer works w/ a smaller profit margin. It is also impossible to know what other factors will affect the industry altogether not to mention the economy. The marine hobby is an expensive luxury so at worst i might expext some of the weaker suppliers to give way to the stronger ones who will have the sense to support domesticaly grown marine animals. We shall see.
