Some of my xenia is starting to recover from the heat wav of three weeks ago. I have three of the seven different kinds left, and one of those (yellow/silver tip pulsing/encrusting) is beginning to look 'normal.' Another white pumping/encrusting is looking okay but not extending fully. The third type, which is similar to Rea Sea pumping but much much lighter in color, is spreading along but will not extend more than 1/2" total from rock to tip. When you brush against it, it retracts, so I know it's alive, but it's not behaving 'normally.'

My parameters, out of whack two weeks ago, are now very nice, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to help this xenia recover.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Peace,

Chip

i too had a problem with the heat but i made up for the heat with 3 liters of ice and cutting the metal halide photoperiod in half. i found that if you deprive xenia of light it will "trumpet" like mushrooms in low light and extend to try to get to the light. i am not saying that you should do this it is just an interesting observation. i even thought that i would put some xenia frags in the sump for couple days then return them to the main tank to recover and they would be bigger more $$$ less time
