If petstore's are treating with copper, and you buy a fish and bring it home...but make sure that no water from the bag gets in your tank. Are you safe?? thanks

If the fish is netted into your display tank, a minimal and insignficant amount of Cu will be imported. In other words, it's nothing to worry about.

Shove liquid carbon down the mouth of the fish that should absorb any remaining Cu.

Rinse thoroughly, season to taste and place in a suacepan with some white wine, butter and shallots.

Unless they are the only game in town, I'd try to find an LFS that doesn't use Copper. If you have no choice, at least try to convince them to stop.

Actually, placing your fish in a dehydrater is the only reliable say to dry it out.

Ack this is too cruel

People do get genuinely concerned about getting copper in their tanks.

There's no need to add the water from the shop to the tank - just net the fish out and drop it in your tank.

You should probably aclimitise the fish first by adding your water to the bag etc.

The amount of copper you end up adding to the tank is far too little to detect. It won't cause any problems.

before you wipe down your fish you should set it on a breadboard and run a rolling pin across it to squeeze out any excess water or feces that may contain copper as well

or you could just get a copper sponge from your supplier. I have not tried one of these but have seen them in the stores
