My new yello goby just jumped out of the back of my tank and hit the floor. It took me a minute to realize that he was gone then I saw him on the floor. I put him back in the tank and he doesn't look too good. He has fuzz on him from the carpet, but he is breathing. Overall he doesn't look too good. Is there anything you can suggest? Has anyone elses Goby tried to off themselves. I am trying not to take this personally since he has only been here about three hours!!!

Just leave him alone. If he was only out a minute, he'll be fine, he's just shocked is all. I know that a goldfish is not a goby, but they can remain out of water for 4 hours and have no ill affects. I once had a goldfish that jumped out, and was crispy when I found him, but I stuck him back in, he softened up, and was fine.

Just so you know .......any fish that has a torpedo shaped body is a jumper....and you will be in shock at the small sizes of holes they can jump through.

I turned out the lights and let things mellow out a bit. I would have never guessed that he was gonna jump. He is still breathing but laying under the live rock. I will see what he looks like in the morning. Thanks for the advice...

Uh oh,

I saw him out and about before I went to bed, but I haven't seen him since. I hope he is just shy and hiding in the rocks. I sure hope he turns up, he was a cute little bugger...

Imagine the shock of finding out there isn't any water on the other side of the glass! You think you know how the world works. Sort of the opposite experience of Christopher Columbus. I thought the oceans were endless, and then I went over the edge...

True...

I think he is a gonner though...That sucks, I usually have really good luck with fish. 16 bucks down the drain...

Well Angela I am afraid he took the big "dirt nap". I haven't seen hide nor hair of him, but my crabs look pretty damn proud of themselves

I eventually gave up on finding him and replaced him with a watchman goby that seems to be doing very well...

I think the Watchman is a good looking fish. He doesn't have the same personality as my Barnicle Blenny. I bought him to try to pair up with a pistol shrimp I have. I want to watch the symbiotic relationship these two can have. It is very cool.
