Looks very cool. I would do it the other way around. SPS look great from the top. the bottom tank lit with pendants If possible would be cool and then have the FOWLR up where you can see the fish from the side.

Your only problem would be lighting over the lower tank. To have your MHs high enough you would need 1000 watt lights. either way it will be a spectacular setup. Keep us posted on the progress. It will be unique.

They won't let me have the tank till after new years (they don't want me to clog up their holiday traffic) so I won't have it in my posession till january. Prolly going to stick with the SPS up top, SPS is a niche market and doesn't drive sales.. it's really just a show tank/I like it tank... and the FO is for a bunch of fish I got attatched to that need a BIG home.. heh.

Cool. Hope you don't have small kids! That lower aquarium looks like it is begging for kids the throw stuff in there or for them to go for a swim!

Can't wait to see some pics when it is up and running!! Do you plan on linking the two systems?

Yeah, I'm leaning towards linking them and running off of one large skimmer, probably use my PM bullet XL1.

I don't have any children, will never have children.. and have been tempted many times to drown the customers children.. maybe this will help me accomplish that goal.. hehe.

(kidding... don't call the cops on me please!)

Looks like a Petco setup to me. i have seen them with turtles in the top and Koi in the bottom. Would be a cool project. Do you know its capacity? keep us posted this should be neat to see...

This is at a petco.. but it is not exclusive to them, it's a DAS paladarium.. bottom tank is probably ~350 gallons and top ~200 gallons. I am just going to hang pendants over the lower tank, it's just going to be fowlr, and I will be hanging 2 400w and 1 250w iwasaki halides over the 200... higher light stuff under the 400's, and lower light stuff under the 250, with frags on the bottom sand (can't waste space

I'm not sure on the substrate.. I have 4 tanks to consolodate into it.. I"m prolly going to need an additional 300 lbs or so.

Sorry, I didn't mean to touch on a sore spot. Infertility is always such a touchy subject.

Dude, that is going to be the daddy of all tanks. My vote has to go with the SPS on the bottom though. Plating SPS corals look the bomb from the top, and you could still have large fish in there too. And then in the top tank you could have Softys and the polyp nippers. Its just that most marines are so skinny from the top you wouldn't see much, but then i suppose you would get a glimpse when your picking up your bottom jaw from the floor.

They won't let you take it now??? I'd make them cover it, place it under armed guard, and insure that any damage caused by keeping it there would entail them ordering a new one if said damage occured (you know, some sicko's are jealous about the sold sign on it, so they mess w/it, in an area that isn't easy to see at first glance, however, shows up when you fill it etc.) And how much substrate are you going to need?? I think this size system might be close to qualify as a true small reef though!

Yep, craig, that's the tank at the attleboro petco. I know some of the other petcos in the area had them, but I think this was the last one (at least that is the idea I got from the store manager.. but he was also trying to get me to buy it).

As far as the SPS in the bottom.. I will agree with you all that would be an incredible display.. but I'm not going to devote that kind of floorspace to a niche market.. if it was in my HOUSE, that would be a different story.
