Which is worse for corals, nitrate or ammonia?

If you have to pick one, which is it? High nitrate or high ammonia level, which is more toxic to corals and fishes?

ammonia is way more toxic that nitrate.

if so, shouldn't we use bio-ball for safety measure against over-feeding and dead fishes?

Wouldn't it be safer if we live in a closet and only eat intraveniously.

With live rock and a deep sand bed you with have neither high ammonia nor high nitrate levels. If you have bioballs you will not have high ammonia levels, you may or may not have high nitrates. It seems to me to be safer not to have the bioballs.

I've never seen evidence that a tank with a lot of live rock or sand ever has substantial ammonia from overfeeding.
