I spend more time reading than posting on this forum. I bought a 75g setup that I wanted to set up as a reef; however, being 31 (and on alcohol

kirtis) I decided that I would wait until my budget would accomodate doing it right.
I do have friends, not just people I made up to justify asking questions about animals I squeezed in my tank, so I am getting educated. When I get my dream IT job, I'll get my own tank kickin'.
I do want to say the best reading on this board is a result of Kirtis' posts. It's an interesting idea, he replaces livestock at roughly the same cost that most educated hobbyists populate their library. Sure, it isn't good for the hobby, so please don't defend him from the heat. But, I think a lot of people learn from his criticisms, so don't ban him from the board.
Thanks,
Cracker
PS: I typed this with a few beers in me after doing a search on kirtis. So, please don't hold my typing as representative from the midwest, and definitely don't hold kirtis' grade school manuscripts against us either

I don't think chucker would. As has been stated before, if chucker et al. banned him, what would stop kirtis or anyone else from posting under a new name. For all we know, you could be kirtis, reincarnate. Besides, he went to RC, and, got flamed there too (just not nearly as high the heat as here). I know chucker has better things to do than to try to ban people unless they're saying things that aren't kosher (swearing comes to mind). Besides, if enough frivalous posts are posted, they'll just shut dow the board for a few days or weeks, or god forbid, totally.

Kirtis, I think we are accepting you as a valuable member of this family. We need some occasional amusement from time to time. I have to say that I do enjoy your posts. Kinda reminds me of myself back in Highschool.

Pretty soon (well a couple years down the road, at least) we may see kirtis kicking someone else's booty.............I think........

I swear, as a former English major, the internet will lead to the degradation of the grammar quality in America.

Kurtis doesn't intentionally overstock his tanks, i think the poor guy just gets a little confused by perspective. You see when he enters his LFS all the fish swim and cower at the back of the tank, giving the impression they are smaller, but infact they are just further away. This has unfortunately confused poor Kurtis into thinking he can fit more fish in his tank due to the apparent unpredictibility of this phenominon (or "distance" as we know it). Below i have devised a little table he can take with him on his next trip to the LFS that should help avoid this little problem.

Smaller = further away
&
Bigger = closer to you.

Next time try and measure the fish when they are bigger, or "close to the glass". Never stock a tank from measurements guestimated from small fish, because in your case you may find they are actually "further away" and much larger than you origionally anticipated.

There's got to be at least one in every family, hippo.
