I am going to be setting up a small (5-10 gallon) reef these next few months after a year long reef-hiatus( I kept a 29gallon reef successfully for about 4 years). I was wondering if anyone wanted to show off (pictures?) or tell me about their smal reefs of this size to give me some ideas about lighting, circulation and livestock in a tank this size. I am particularly interested in anyone who has a reef in the 7 or 5 gallon AGA bowfront aquariums, I am thinking about using one of these.
Thanks,

On my website there is a link to my 7g nano reef. There is a simple description of my oh so simple system. This little tank is running great. I need to update the full picture though. It is now 5 months old and going great.

I'm definately interested in what lighting you have as well ....
Also, somewhat unrelated to the micro-reef theme but I was wondering what was a good online place to order captive propagated frags (particularly soft corals since I probably won't be putting many if any SPS frags in this tank)? I'd like to try and go all aquacultured live stock for this tank, besides small frags would be a more appropriate size for this tank than most of the corals at the LFS...
Thanks,

I run the CSL smartlight, I think it is 2x28w or something like that. I just popped out the standard piece of cr*p light and popped in the CSL retro in the light hood that came with the 7g bowfront. It fits great and what I keep in the tank seems fine with the light.

I've been running a 6g eclipse acrylic bowfront for about 1.5 years now, I've tried different animals in it, polyps, urchins, and my unkillable bowcutie damsel "Jagermeister" , he's really evil, but entertaining. The tank and Jager have btoh survived at least 8-9 trips in the car from my home to my college dorm which says a lot. The tank has about 10lbs of live rock, i run the filter pads, but remove the carbon that comes with them. The light is just the standard 8W fixture, but i replaced the eclipse bulb with a powerglow 18000k bulb, coraline does really well, as do the polyps. I add iodine, and use the tech cb from kent. The only problem i've had is overheating, that bulb really warms the water so I have to leave the lid open, probably should use a fan too, but everyone seems to be happy so I have't done that yet.
