haven,t been on the boards in a long time, but it's nice to be back. Finally started setting my 150 gal tank up,but it's going to take a while to fill. The Kent Maxxima isn't the fastest filter in the world.I figure it should be full in about 4 days.(God i'm gonna hate to see my water bill!)
Anyways I had the whole system up and running with fresh water for a week and everything seems fine.No leaks, timers working, lights were run for 100 hours to get true spectrum as reccommended by manufacturer(God i'm gonna hate to see my electric bill),all pumps and powerheads are woking, protien skimmer will have to wait for testing, got all my test kits, and i'm ready to go.It's only been 2 years and a small fortune since I decided to setup a reef tank. Now all I need to do is find a place to get my liverock and sand and I can start to cycle my tank.I don't know how you guys and gals felt when you setup your tanks, but i'm getting pretty exited. well just thought I'd post my current status, talk to ya soon

It took 2 years to buy a new house and have a second kid then remodel the down stairs into a game room where I could setup my tank.I'm usually very impatient(ask my wife)I wanted my tank setup the day I brought it home.

My 120g tank sit in my living room without water for 8 months! Then it came alive. I purchased the tank first, then decided to learn, and the more I read the more I knew I did not know, so I read more.. and in about 8 months I fired her up and started the RO/DI fill!

Nothing like setting up a new tank! It is exciting every time you do it!

good luck!

well suckair I did like you.I had a 120 gal that exploded in my living room after about 10 years and about 20 moves to different locations.I went and bought the 150 and decided to try my hand at reef tanks so I started online and found there was a whole lot more than what I expected so I bought delbecks reef 1&2,tullocks natural reef and a fue on just corals and read til I couldn't see straight.Since I knew we were buying a new house I decided to wait to set it up and finally after 2 years the ro/di is running as I type.
Danmhippo,I didn't have to run up the charge since I sold my fishing boat to buy most and I'm fairly handy with a complete wood shop that also works good on plexiglass and you'd be supprised how easy and cheep it is to make most aquaria gadgets. The lighting is 2 175W MH and 2 VHO flourecents that are a lot cheeper than ones designed and built for tanks. They came from gas station signs, but you still have to buy the bulbs since I haven't been able to get the right spectrum from the local light store.
