Hi Everyone!

I recently have discovered some green round bubble like things that look like emeralds in the tank when the light shines just right. I took three of them out but popped another one yesterday while getting it out. The LFS said they were ok. What about them? What do you think. Should I keep removing them? What do you think they are?
I hope there're not too bad. Thanks for the info. Pat

There called Valona. They are a bit of a pain at times and i allways remove them. There is a possibility of them overgrowing corals and they can reach the size of tennis balls. If you burst them then the spores inside are released back into the water and populate narby rocks. Many people suggest using Emerald Crabs to keep them under controll but personally i wouldn't introduce one of those destructive bastards into my system for all the tea in china. Yu can either be really carefull when you take them out, or syphon near them andburt them sucking up all the spores (a little ott), or you can just rip them out a fast and fureously as they grow. Wait till they get to the size of a samll marble as this tends to be a manageable size. I have actually now succeeded in getting rid of all of them, as other problems they can cause is detaching themselfs from the rocks and floating around bashing everything. The common name for these things are Salors Eyeballs. It's just annoying that whenever anyone looks at my tank all they used to say is ooooh look at those pretty bubbles. And im expecting a reaction from the corals
