I pulled out all my fish while doing a dsb conversion. I am wondering if I should not put the 6 line back in. I have had problems with dead snails and hermits. The 6 line has been in thank for 2.5 years. I have never seen him eat a single bit of food I put in the tank so I know he's eating something ...maybe it's just the pods...maybe not...

Any thoughts or past experiences with 6 lines...vote him in or out.

Thanks

I have had one for 3+ years and have never had a bit of trouble with it. I feed them every other day or so with brine or misis, and I put lettuce in the tank for the tang pretty regularly. Recently I have seen the 6-line eating the lettuce, crazy! I know he eats pods and stuff, but I have never seen him eat a snail or hermit. I have several small snails and they seem to be doing great. Have no fear of the 6-line! He is easily my favorite fish. Good luck!

Does anyone else's six line get into a "running" fit sometimes? Mine will flare at the glass (or his reflection) occationally and will also take high speed dashes over the rockwork, sometimes hitting the glass a little hard. Normally he just cruises the rockwork hunting mysid shrimp and pods.

My six line is always looking for trouble. Granted I like him alot, but hes always snatching my corals food and trying to piss my maroon clown off. He will cruise up to the anenome and flare his fins and make faces at the clown till she runs after him and he bolts through the rocks satisfied he got to her. Pretty funny to watch. Id put him back in if you dont plan on adding any other pod eaters as a few of these guys may imbalance the tank depleting it of pods.

Good luck,
Dustin

My six line eats formula one, formula 2, prime reef, and brine that I feed. It also cruises continuously looking for treats, and I've even seen it pick at some of the other fish (domino damsel and flame angel that I know about). I think its an awesome fish, though its never exhibited as much character as dustint's.
