What do you mean you got spammed? Someone emailed you? If you don't want anyone to see your email address, then you should choose the option not to have it displayed. This option is available to all board members. Just click on the profile link above and choose not to display it. This option was available to you when you registered on the board.
Yes spamed. That is what you call it when you click on some ones link to ther pic.
And insted of seeing a pic of a coral
you get a pop up advertising for very small camra's and an adult movie sight.
I shouldent have to put up with that.
I do think thats why we have moderaters.
SPC The thread was one asking for help
on IDing a coral.
IF that indavidual is in to that sort of thing, then good for him but I should not have to be forced to see it.
Boss,
The mods can't be everywhere, all the time. I understand the frustration adn disgust, let them know exactly where the problem is and I would bet it is resolved almost immediately. I have had similar things happen, e-mailed the mods, and it was resolved within 1 hour.
What I think you experienced is what I would call "the geocities experience" .
The poster's home page is one of those free pages from geocities. The way the owners of the servers pay for this free service is through popup advertising.
It's the same kind of thing you experience when you go the the weather channels page for "free" weather updates.
The person in question uses geocities, a free web hosting company. In exchange for a free website people that view geocities pages get to see this adds. Such is life on the internet. It's not spam (spam is unsolicited email) and has NOTHING to do with reefs.org.
In the future, please put questions and comments about the UBB where they belong- the Questions/Comments/Suggestions forum. Ambiguous thread titles coupled with a large volume of topics tend to bury threads in the main forum.
