I am thinking of getting a Crocea clam for a 10 gal nano. Inhabitants are Montipora Digitata, Caulastrea, Peppermint Shrimp and a Neon Goby with 150 HQI for lighting. Will it do well in this tank? I will attempt to place it halfway up the tank on a flat piece of rock. Also I would like to get a red open brain (trachphyllia geoffroyi). Would this be too much light for the open brain if i had him on the substrate? TIA

I keep a turquoise t.maxima in a 15g with 250w 10K in a pendant. It's been doing well but I also feed a capful of DTs phyto daily and I think that has alot to do with it.

One thing to remember about clams is that they don't always stay where you want them. Mine would not stay on the rocks and now it lives in the sand. This is contrary to where I have been told they prefer to live. Whenever I placed it on the rocks, it would stay there all day, as happy as a you-know-what, until the lights went off. Then it would jump to the substrate. I think the issue had to do with water currents. So keep in mind that you may not be able to specify placement and you should consider other factors such as current, which clams don't like to be too strong.

Lastly, I would like to say that I have not been thrilled with the behavior of peppermints in a reef tank. If anything takes a chunck out of a clam I would consider it suspect. I have never kept a GOB and so can't offer any meaningful opinion.
