I bought garlic oil capsuls and tried soaking my food in it. I then fed my two tanks. I saw a lot of oil on the surface of my feeding cup. So I am thinking DUH!!! oil-water, they don't mix. Will this reak havoc with my skimmer, tank, etc. fish loved the food as much as usual. I am on the hunt for the Kyolic garlic elixer that I read about in a feew posts. I thought I read that garlic oil was fine. Now thinking I must have dreamt that

No problem with what you have done. There is a water based product - Kyolic brand which is available in health food stores. With the oil based garlic extracts, I put 2-3 drops on each cube of frozen food. When I get ready to feed, I defrost the food in tank water, the oil rises to the top which I decant off and then feed.

phoenix, do you think some of the garlic actually stays soaked into the food when you use the oil based stuff or does most of it seperate out when the water is introduced?
