Why are my peppermint shrimp pulling my snails off of their desired locations and eating them. I just paid 75 bucks for a snail cleanup crew and the peppermints are eating them. HELPPPPPPPPP!!!

Do you feed your shrimp, they maybe hungry?

Are they attacking healthy snails or are they on their backs dieing?

FWIW I've never SEEN my peppers actively kill a snail, doesn't mean they haven't though.

What species of snail are they eating?

How did you acclimate your snails?

M - I feel for you. I had the same thing happen to me. My peppermint shrimp were eating both my snails and my hermits. Best thing I can suggest is to watch the shrimp and if it keeps killing than get rid of it. That's the only thing that worked for me.
Good Luck,
Brad

Maybe you got camel shrimp instead of peppermint shrimp? I know that a lot of LFS here don't know the difference and will sell camels as peps, although I don't know if the camels are more predatory than the peps. I have heard that the peps will take down polyps, but don't know firsthand if that happens. If you get rid of your peps, would you by any chance want to trade them for some xenia? I've been looking for a couple of peps to kill off the small amount of aiptasia I have in my refugium, and also take down a couple of aiptasia in my reef, and haven't seen them lately (except at one store that wanted $39 for them, not a chance on that sale going through!).

That is kinda steep for xenia. I can get it here for like 10 to 15 bucks for smaller pieces. Of course with shipping that doesn't do you any good.
