removing support boards

I have a 55 gal and want to add a 20 gal sump/refugium underneath . The stand that i have is open in the back and has 2 support boards running vertical they are probably 1-2in wide. My question is can i remove the boars temporarly without incident so i can add the sump?? oh yeah i do want to do this while the main tank is about 3/4 full. I think it will hold. please any advice input....

I would go buy a 32 gallon trash can (the kind on wheels works best) at home depot (Probably about 10 or 15 bucks) and then pump your 3/4 full aquarium into the trash can using one of your submersable pumps and a peice of hose.

Then remove the boards with ease and do your little project and reverse the process.

10 or 15 dollars is cheap insurance.... Plus now you hve a mixing can for large water changes
