A couple of mine have disappeared.

I figured them to be dead.

But periodically I will see them at the entrance of their tube, working or something. Not fully extending though.

Is this common?

Are they unhealthy?

In the past I've seen mine working at the opposite end of its tube, extending it with in the crevice.

Currently the feathers just fell off for no apparent reason and I haven't seen it since. The tube looks empty. :(

If your featherduster has dropped its crown, it may be just taking its time growing a new one. It is probably still in the tube but it will take a few weeks to grow a new one. Continue to make sure there is "filter feeder food" available for it!

He's all pinched up 'cuz my Tang has been nibbling on the sides of his tube. I tried putting him under the sand, but either he or his tankmates have pulled him back up. So now, I built up rock around him. I can see "threads" through his tube. Think he's done? I believe he's still alive as he appears to have latched on to one of the rocks. Could it be? I tried syringing in some "soup," but he didn't come to dinner.
