Does anyone know of a good sand you use in central Indiana. We do not have a Home Depot with SD play sand. All we have is quikcrete play sand. I do not know where to get aragonite sand anywhere. I do not want to spend a lot of money per pound because I need about 150#. Anyone have any suggestions.

I used plain old KMart Play sand in my 55 reef without any ill effects whatsoever. It's not white, but it is $2.50 per 25 lb bag!!!

Yes, it is silica, but so is the glass that the tank is made of....if your worried about diatoms...don't be. It wasn't a problem for me, and I have read of others using this type sand without problems as well.

Id go with the Carrib Sea Florida Pink Oolitic sand, i think it would look just fabulous darling.

Do a search on Dr Ron Shmeick (wrong Spelling) he is the DSB guru, and we are all very jelous of the squidgy grey thing he has between his ears.

Wow, no Home Depots, how do you all survive out there?

Have you called Southdown to see if any other retailers are in your area. How about Lowes, or another home warehouse, or True Value hardware? They may have it or something similar.
Heck, at $5.00 a bad, it may be worth finding the nearest Home Depot and having it shipped from there vice mail ordering sand from a pet retailer at $20.00 a bag. I'd venture to say shipping by RPS wouldn't be too bad cost wise. I've used them before for large heavy items that UPS wouldn't take and shipping isn't too bad, especially if you pick it up at the local distribution center vice door to door delivery. Just a thought.
