I am about to upgrade my system from my current 29 gal to a 50 gal. Right now I only have a pair of Ocellaris that started spawning a few months ago. I would like to add one or two more fish to my new tank. I was wondering if anyone has had experience introducing new fish into a tank with a spawning clown pair. I am concerned that the pair may stop spawning w/ the new fish around. I appreciate any thoughts on this.

Also, I was wondering if a Coral Beauty Angel would make a suitable tankmate as I may have the opportunity to buy one from a fellow hobbyist soon.

I have a yellowtail damsel that spawns all the time and these are it's tankmates as far as fish are concerned. By the way, everyone eats the frye, but she still spawns.
2 Yellow Tangs
2 Pacific Blue Tangs
1 Cinammon Clown
1 Fire Fish Goby
1 Dusky Jaw Fish
4 Yellow Tail Damsels
1 3 Stripe Damsel
1 Domino Damsel
1 Coral Beauty
1 Flame Angel
1 Royal Gramma
1 Green Chromis
This is in my 125, and there are also 5 shrimp and multiple corals, crabs, and snails. Of course, damsels aren't clowns, but then again, they also don't have an anemone protecting their eggs by proximity.

I just finished Joyce Wilkerson's Clownfishes. She does not recommend other fish in the clowns' tank. Dave Lin's post is one reason - the larvae become food. The other resaon is the adult clowns may tire themselves staking out their breeding territory from their tankmates.

I am not interested in breeding clowns, I was just curious about the process. That is why I bought the book. If you are serious about breeding clowns, however, get the book. I got mine new at half.com for about $20.

My breeding pair of Maroons are in my reef tank- their neighbors are several tangs and a green chromi. The bad neighbor that I had to recently remove was a brittle star(caught him eating the eggs) I catch the babies at the night of the hatch as Wilkersen's book describes with white bowls- doesn't take long. Other quiet fish wold probably do okay also- like royal gramma, dwarf lion. dottybacks or Bangaii cardinals.
