i have 2 year old AGA 54G corner
35lbs. LR
2" sand.
ammonia-nitrites-silicates-phosphates = 0
nitrates = 6
4 X 55w PC (2 X 55w actinic and 2 X 55w 10k)
a mix of softies and lps + a green acropora. all have been in for at least 9 months. nothing has died for over a year
3 pajama cardinals
rock blennie
2 percs

can i do a clam?
if so, which one would be a good place to start?
if i had an idea of what would work, i could start reading before i go looking.

Derasa clam.Make sure you pick one in a store not thru the mail and that its mantle is extended out and over the shell edge.

IMO I think you could. I would offer the following advice: Buy an aquacultured squamosa or deresa clam. Read Daniel Knop's book on clams. Research and choose your vendor carefully. Have your clam shipped overnight or buy it locally. Feed it with live phyto to supplement its nutrition. And quarantine it until you know it is free of pyramid snails. My thoughts.

If you want a Deresa I would look at Jeff's Exotic Fish in LA. I drove there on Friday and he had a bunch of nice deresas that were pretty big and he only wanted 20 bucks a piece. I would guess three to four inch range. They looked healthy and my buddy bought a nice one that is doing well.

He does mail order too...
