Every night, after lights are turned off, I get hundreds (thousands??) of tiny white snails on the front glass of the 75 gallon reef tank....as well as all over the live rock.

I never see these critters during the day.

Any ideas? I assume they are harmless, and that they live in the live sand during the day??

TIA

When my turbos bread thats what they behaved and looked like at first. After a while they started showing up during daylight hours and started developing the colors of the adults. Yours could be the babies of any type of snail. You probibly won't know until they get bigger.

Not sure they're Turbos...cause this has been happening for a few months, and I never see them getting any bigger.

I have these little white snails in my tank too. They come out when my dusk lighting cycle is on and go back in hiding when the lights come on in the morning. They have never caused a problem and I actually enjoy seeing them come out.

I had them too, little conical shaped guys? Not stubby like turbos. Had hundreds at night for a couple of months, then population seemed to reduce to almost nothing, and has stayed there. I wouldn't worry.

I also have hundreds and hundred of three different types of snails and 1 species is what you guys have been talking about. I see them at night and disappear into the LR during the day and so far no problems with them. Johnny
